The Water Quality Research Cluster tackles critical challenges in protecting, treating, and managing water resources. Current projects explore innovative treatment technologies, including activated ferrate and advanced oxidation/reduction processes (AOPs/ARPs). The team conducts field and laboratory studies, modeling, and comprehensive water quality assessments, along with designing civil infrastructure for water supply and wastewater management. Their work focuses on energy-efficient, sustainable solutions that safeguard ecosystems and public health by improving access to safe drinking water, protecting watersheds, and ensuring the safe disposal of wastewater.

The EEL at the University of Miami is dedicated to research and education in problems that relate the environment to human health. We assess the impacts of microbial and chemical contaminants on human health. We measure contaminants in the environment to estimate exposures to humans in contact with those environments.
